How we are funded
We are not a charity. We are a regulated company, and we believe you have a right to know how the money works. The short version: there is no upfront cost to you, we are paid only when a case is won, and we never charge you out of your own pocket.
The honest summary
- No upfront cost to you.
- You only pay if you win, and the fee comes out of the compensation, not your pocket. If you don't win, you pay nothing.
- If we cannot help, we say so honestly and point you to who can. See where to get other housing help.
How we earn money
Support for Tenants is a claims management company (CMC). We gather your evidence, arrange an inspection, and refer strong cases to a housing-disrepair solicitor. We are paid by the solicitor only when the case is won. If the case loses, we earn nothing.
This is how the law expects firms like ours to work, and it keeps the incentives right: we only take on cases we honestly believe have a chance.
Who regulates us
We are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 1020217). We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ZB796409). The solicitors we refer to are regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).
You do not have to use a company like ours
You can speak to your landlord, use the landlord's complaints process, or contact the Housing Ombudsman for free. If you choose to use us, the solicitor explains the fee in full before you sign anything.
